Hi,

I'm looking for reputable ragdoll breeders located in the Northwest. Last year, I bought a blue mitted bi-color kitten from a breeder in Washington. The cat is wonderful, the breeder was not. :( She never got back to my emails, never sent me picture updates of the baby I had chosen (which she said she would), and was generally unhelpful and irresponsible. I don't wish to slander this particular breeder publicly, but if you are buying a ragdoll from a Washington breeder contact me to make sure it isn't the cattery I got mine from! Several months ago, I began considering adding another ragbaby to the household and attempted to contact this same breeder about adopting another one. Unsurprisingly, I never heard back from her. I have researched all over the web and it seems like many NW breeders update their sites very rarely. Who to trust?? Any recommendations? Much Appreciated!!

Kelly, check out Angellight Ragdolls.  Sorry for the delay in response – I was hoping one of the breeders would reach out.  There is an awesome Ragdoll Rescue up there as well.  Ragdoll Rescue NW.

Hi Kelly!

I would have responded sooner, but I didn't notice your post.  I'm in the Northwest – the Seattle/Tacoma area to be exact.  Are you really in Missoula?

I have three wonderful Ragdoll boys from Longfellow Ragdolls in Olympia, WA.  (Longfellowragdolls.com)  Kristie is a WONDERFUL lady that I've known for the entire five years I've had Ragdolls.  I got my first two five years ago, and my new kitten this summer.  If you email her, tell her Jerri Kelly sent you!

She truly loves her cats, and I send her pictures all the time, go down to visit and ask her advice about cat health issues frequently.

She doesn't really keep too many photos on her website because her kittens go fast!  I know she's expecting two litters next month that will be ready after the first of the year.

I'm constantly posting photos of my boys on the floppycats facebook page – look for Denali, Stormy and Dusty.  :)

The other breeder I can recommend is Lorna Kelly of CashmereRags.com.  She is up north in Snohomish, and while I never purchased a kitten from her, I've visited her cattery a few times and she is also a very nice lady.

Good luck adding a new Ragdoll to your family – trust me, one is not enough.  :)

I too live in the NW and am researching breeders – and have been told by someone that used to breed (and is getting back into it – but won't have a litter for at least a year) that there currently aren't ANY she'd recommend in Oregon, and she wasn't very complimentary about Washington ones either (although from my research, Cashmere Rags seems pretty good).  I'm also looking at Angelight based on Jenny's recommendation and Longfellow thanks to Jerri.

I've also been in contact with a couple of breeders in Northern California (based on the recommendation of my "contact" here in Oregon).  One of them is very well known in the show and breeding world, but quite frankly, I'm not very impressed by her email communication.  Granted, I've peppered her with questions, but her answers are VERY brief and she doesn't address all of them.  Maybe email isn't her preferred form of communication, but it's making me consider looking elsewhere.

I want to adopt 2 kittens in mid/late February (I'll be traveling a bunch in the next 3 months, so want to wait until I can provide a "stable" home! LOL!).  This site/forum has been so helpful to answer a bunch of my questions (Jenny's e-book is great!), but I still have so many more!

Hey, I'm a senior at OSU! (Through their ecampus program!) Go Beavers!

My recommendations are based on my experience – obviously, I have three Longfellow boys and they are the most incredible cats in the world.  Kristie is a wonderful lady!  Lorna of CashmereRags is also a breeder I would recommend - you can't go wrong with either one of those ladies.   I  know both have waiting lists for their kittens – if you're looking for a February kitten, you might want to contact them and inquire about upcoming litters.

And like Jenny said – let us know what questions you might have!
