I have always loved cats and when it was time to get my own cat after moving into my first apartment, I wanted to find one that was friendly and loved people. I started looking at different breeds of cats and found that Ragdolls sounded like the perfect cat for me.

Diamond is my first Ragdoll and a blue lynx mitted girl. She’s three-years-old and was born on February 15th . I found a breeder who I thought was the best in the area. I wanted a girl and Diamond was the smallest of her litter. She could fit in the palm of my hand. She was the only one who tried to play with me. She tried to climb up my leg and then kept grabbing my fingers with her claws.

I asked to take pictures, but the breeder said that her eyes were cloudy so they wouldn’t come out right, but that she’d take pictures for me when they got better and that never happened. I finally brought her home at fifteen weeks. I wouldn’t recommend this breeder because Diamond has feline herpes and needs medication daily. The breeder told me it would go away and didn’t communicate with me much after I had put down the deposit, but after a while, I convinced her to take her to a specialist and that’s when she got on her medication and she became like a normal

cat again. At first, she was always tired and had trouble breathing, but then she became playful and we saw what a happy cat she was.

We discovered that she loves crinkle toys and popping catnip bubbles. She loves sunning herself in the window and watching the birds at the bird feeder. She stands up on her back paws and grabs the food bowl out of my hand and pulls my hand closer when it’s time for treats. Diamond is a lap cat too which is what I was looking for. My boyfriend and I called her Diamond because she was pretty expensive and because she’s part blue. It’s a fitting name for her. She’s treated like royalty and even has a crown for her name tag. If you’d like to see more of her, she’s on youtube:

Thanks for featuring her. You’re doing a great job with the site.

Diamond might like one of our comfort window perches. This will allow her to birdwatch all day long. And if you put the perch on the windows sill and put the television outside with bird videos DIamond will have have a blast all day long. LOL.

  3. Darcey,

Diamond is gorgeous! Sorry the breeder put you through this – but so happy you still adopted Diamond! My Willow also has Herpes – luckily she’s only had 2 outbreaks since we got her. One was really bad, poor baby. She’s a Siamese Mix Gato and was rescued from a storm drain in Puerto Rico – so I can understand it with her.

I agree – Floppy Cats is wonderful, and gets better & better!

    Hello,
Diamond is beautiful. What a appropiate name!
My Lexi loves sinks. She is only a few months old in this photo. She is blue lynx point with white mittens. Lexi eates me out of house and home and is still growing. What a love bug. I am going through a hard period of my life with a sick mom. She has helped me more than a bunch of pills.Let me know when you post and how I can see the photos.

    Best, Susan

I am so glad that you found Diamond, I truly dislike unreliable and unhealthy breeders. I have read about many experiences that some individuals have had while trying to find a Ragdoll breeder, I do not understand how some bad breeders can do what they are doing since they are hurting another living being..especially such a gentle soul like a Ragdoll. Diamond is one of the lucky ones to have been adopted by you and saved from her birthplace. I agree with you, lap cats are the best! Does Diamond still try to rest in the sink at all? Sometimes even when they get too big, I don’t think it stops them!

  8. Darcey says:

thanks for the comments on Diamond. She’s doing well and is still on her eye drops every other day to keep her herpes in check. I haven’t seen her in the sink in a long time, but in December, she finds a new place under the chritmas tree. Her and Mellow love to hide behind the gifts. it’s the cutest thing.
