Floppycats gets 40,000+/- visitors a month.  Ever wondered what pages get the most hits, here’s a quick run down:

1. Home Page – since Floppycats is set up as a blog, almost every dya there is a new blog post – and that is featured on the front page of the site – therefore, it makes sense why it is visited the most.
2. Seal Ragdolls – this website was founded because of my Seal Mitted Ragdoll, Rags, who passed on March 30, 2009.  It is no wonder why seal Ragdolls are covered a lot on the site.
3. Kidney Disease Cat Food – I created this page when Rags was in his final stage of life, dying from Chronic Renal Failure (CRF).
4. Anemia in Cats – this page was also created because of Rags’ CRF.
5. Blue Ragdolls - this page covers the different patterns and tones of blue that Ragdolls can come in.
6. Ragdoll Rescue – I have really worked on promoting this portion of the site.  Since there is not a Ragdoll Rescue that is International or one that is all encompassing in the USA, I wanted to create something online that would allow people to post information.
7. Ragdoll of the Week – I am not surprised this is popular – the Ragdoll of the Week submissions are so very fun to read!
8. Ragdoll Cat – this page covers what Ragdoll cats are like.
9. Cat Not Drinking Water – this page was also created because of Rags’ CRF.  I hope it is helping someone!
10. Ragdoll Names – I love hearing what you named your Ragdoll cat – share your names here or find ideas for names here.

While, I cannot do a product review on these, I wanted to feature them because they are really neat products.  The reason I cannot do a product review is because my cats and none of the animals I know have ticks.  Also, the Omega-3 supplement, for a proper review should be tested medically in the cat, in my opinion.  So I am, rather, doing a product feature.

Resolution Omega 3 DHA Supplement

Tick’d off is a simple two part kit.  You first kill the tick using the spray, which consists of clinically tested essential oils and then once the tick is dead,  you use the tick key to safely remove the tick from the skin.

FloppyCats Interview with CEO Veterinan Dr. Serge Martinod of ArcaNatura

1.    What is the meaning behind your company name, ArcaNatura?

Arcanatura means “Life Secret” in Latin. Our company name is related to our natural approach on pet health care. The “secret” to a health life for your dog, cat or horse lies in the natural treatment of the root of their problem.

2.    How did the idea for ArcaNatura come about?

The seeds of ARCANATURA were actually planted more than 30 years ago when the two founders attended veterinary school together.  But the project ARCANATURA was initiated at the end of 2006 by those two veterinarians now accumulating more than 50 years of international experience in all areas of Animal Health including research and development, sales and marketing, strategic planning and clinical practice.  The initial challenge was ambitious:  Was it possible to develop and market natural products with efficacy and safety profiles superior to chemically-derived pharmaceuticals while promoting environmental protection and sustainable development? and it is simply not acceptable that the dogs and the cats, now considered members of the family, bring dangerous pesticides in the house in direct contact with the owners every day.

Buddy

So my story is about my Murphy he is now 2 years old, he is a Red bicolor boy.  His breeder is Finer Point Ragdolls, Mary Ann Blasso, here in No. California. She also shows her cats.  And has babies for sale now.  But my story really begins with my first Ragdoll Buddy.  I lived alone and was going through a very hard time emotionally.  I went to the animal shelter in the bay area and found Buddy.  I knew I wanted an adult cat, male but I had no preference to breed or color, I wanted a

love bug, mellow cat.  He was very quiet when everyone else was all stressed in their cages.  He gently played with me through the bars of the cage.  He was huge and had the most beautiful blue eyes.  I tried to hold him but he was so big he didn’t fit on my lap but he endured it.  Any way, I didn’t take him that day.  I came back the next day and got him.  The shelter gave me instructions and said he would need to be in a closed room to help him adjust.  Well, that lasted for an hour maybe.  He just took over my apartment, and it was like he had been with me all his life.  I figured out that he was a miss marked seal bicolor Ragdoll.  The shelter said he was 5 years old, but when I took him to the vet for his check up, he said he was closer to 10 years old.  I didn’t care except that I knew I would have less time with him.  I loved him so much.  In September of 09 I had to put my best friend down.  He had heart failure and they couldn’t help him.  I had Buddy for 11 years.  This was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.  I had to stay in the room with him I just kissed him and petted him and told him I loved him until he was gone.  Then leaving the office without him, well, I just broke.

Everyday I would come home from work I would cry.  I knew in my hear I had to get another Ragdoll.  I went to a shelter and looked for one.  Then my sister surprised me and sent me a picture of a kitten and she asked if I liked him, and of course I said yes.  She said she was trying to figure out something to get me for my 50th birthday, she wanted to do something special so she and my brother in-law said they wanted to get me a Ragdoll.  The one she showed me didn’t work out but I ended up getting Murphy.  Murphy is beautiful.  He is gentle, and

loving and loves his food.  He loves my dog and my other cat.  He is great with kids.  He hates when I kiss him and hug him.  But I think it is just a game with him because he always comes back for more.  He loves boxes and paper bags.  He will give me a head washing in the morning.  He is also good with animals he doesn’t know.  I love him so much and he helped take the pain of the loss of my Buddy.  This is the story of how I fell in love with the Radgoll breed.  The first of Jan. I will be getting another Ragdoll kitten from Mary Ann to show.  So I will send in another story when he is old enough.  I think now as long as I can I will always have a Ragdoll or two in my life.

Before I knew Buddy was sick, I got sick with female problems.   The day I came home from signing the papers on my house I was hemorrhaging and was going to pass out, I laid on the floor on the bathroom so I wouldn’t hurt myself, and Buddy knew something was wrong.  He came and laid on my chest and just meowed, now he weighed over 15 lbs. so it was a little uncomfortable but I didn’t mind.  I knew that was his way of taking care of me.  He would not leave me.  Now Murphy is not like Buddy, but no one will ever be like my Buddy.  And I am OK with that.  Buddy will for ever be in my heart.  Murphy is special in his own way and I love him with all my heart.

Meet Marley. Marley is a 3-year old German Shepherd.  Marley is the reason why there is no product review today.  Marley is my brother’s family’s dog and we are looking for a home for him.

Marley needs a structured environment.  My brother’s family needs to rehome him because Marley has “nipped” people while protecting his family. They are not able to keep them in their home as a result.

He has been professionally trained (please see YouTube video), and I have spoken with the trainer at length and he believes that Marley can thrive in a structured environment. The trainer says he gets along with other dogs and cats.

The trainer suggested that he be in a home with no children or children over the age of 16. Marley has been with my 2-year old nephew and has never harmed him – it’s just the lack of controlled structure that friends of kids could bring that worries the trainer.

I also spoke with Holly Jacobs, an animal communicator, last week with Marley. She said:

• he wants a big yard to patrol
• he likes going places with his person
• he wants a place where he can flat out run
• he is very serious for his young age
• he’s very smart, likes to study things and read people
• a search a rescue job is very important for him
• marley is a working dog and needs to work

We took Marley out to Gladstone, MO for professional dog trainer, Eric Gilbert, to evaluate him for search and rescue, here’s what Eric had to say about Mr. Marley,

“I met Marley tonight at the facility I train at on Mondays. He was aloof and kept going behind his handler. Even with his favorite toy he would not tug or fetch. Marley was overwhelmed with being outside, I never brought him into the dog facility. Nice dog, but I think he does not have the confidence to work as a scent dog. Even after about 20 minutes he would take a liver treat if it dropped on the ground, but not from my hand. Marley never attempted any play and was still uncomfortable at the end. Looking away, staying behind his owner, lip licking, panting etc. He’s a good dog, but more of a pet not a working dog. I know the trainer they sent him to, and he agreed the dog should not be put down. It sounds like the dog was resource guarding the two year old in the house. The relatives have not had any issues with him and I will try to help them find a home for him.”

• From his breeder, “The hips of his great grandfather on his mother’s size were OFA clear – he was a Schutzhund dog – that is the only dog in his recent background who has been x-rayed for hip dysplasia- we have never had any hip problems with any of our dogs over the past 15 years.”
