From a very young age, I have simply adored cats… I have so many cherished moments of my Domestic Shorthair Annie, staring up at me with her beautiful eyes, with her loud motor going. And of course those freakishly cold winter nights, when she would curl up in bed and smooch for hours on end.

Although I love Ragdolls to pieces, I am not a big cat show person. I think I could get into them, but I have not had great experiences with them – people seem to be rude, cold and just generally annoyed with anyone that is excited about their cats.

In 2005, we lost our Maine Coon cat, Toonces, to poor health and old age. We were heartbroken, and we were seeking out another breed of cat to fill our hearts and our home. We went to a local cat show in Des Moines, Iowa. There we found a breed of cat that we instantly fell in love with Ragdoll cats.

Pandora is a pure-bred, seal-mitted Ragdoll, born February 18, 2003, at a New York breeder. Today she is seven years old. Her story might not be what you expect – but it has a wonderful ending. I promise!

Pets are family and when you lose a member of your family, you grieve. Pet grieving is quite a personal experience. Your pet who was your companion all these years, shared your happiness, consoled when you were sad, gave you unconditional love, is suddenly not with you and it’s heart breaking and traumatic.

We got Lilly as a companion for our first Ragdoll, Tyler. Tyler began attacking my legs (in a playful but painful way) every time I went to bed, and then he would meow endlessly and very pitifully, so we decided he needed another companion.

Ragoll-Kittens.com.au was launched just recently and is a site dedicated to this amazing breed of cats. Breeding Ragdoll cats has been a central part in the life our family for a couple of years and this website was inspired by the most precious gift we’ve ever received, our stud Tilly.
