Hi! We've had the same scratching post for years, now. We also have a hanging style one. And the cats like to go to town on the exposed beams in the basement, too :-)

The one you mentioned above looks great! I'll keep it in mind for when we need a replacement!

Your cats are totally gorgeous, too, by the way!

Carrie, I agree that cats should keep their claws. And agree that they should have one place to scratch. Mine, however, have multiple places to scratch in hopes that they don't scratch anything else. My favorite scratcher is the http://www.floppycats.com/topcat-sisal-scratching-post.html - do your cats have a favorite that is therefore your favorite?

Yes, I agree that Maine Coons and Ragdolls have similiarities in personality, affection and in size! Maine Coons are gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing this info on cat scratching posts. I think every cat should have at least one place where they are allowed to scratch. They need to! I would also add that when they stretch and sharpen their claws, it's good for their overall muscle tone. Keeps them healthy for life! (It's a big reason why they need their claws :)

I'm glad I've found your site! I think there are a lot of similarities between Maine Coons and Ragdolls, especially personality and affection!
