When my wife and I got married, I inherited Stormy, a Bombay rescue kitty. We work long hours. Stormy got wiggy, being alone so much. I met a Ragdoll at a local rescue center, but they had some odd rules about being able to come to our home at random, but we had already fallen in love with Ragdolls. We bought Velcro, a sweet seal point rag girl from a local breeder.
Stormy never bonded with Velcro, so we went to the same breeder, and got a big floppy male, and named him Arlo, because he has a perfect Aro Guthrie singing voice, especially when his food bowl is empty.
We had about 5 happy years with our 2 rags, and grumpy old Stormy.
Unfortunately, Velcro was taken from us, by lymphoma. She developed a large tumor, right where she had her rabies shot. We tried chemo, but she stopped eating & drinking after 2 weeks. My wife was completely heartbroken. It hit me pretty hard, too. We talked to the breeder, and they had 2 babies in the house, and had gotten out of the business. I did a lot of research, looking for the perfect breeder. I wanted cats that were raised in a family environment, and were well socialized, and exposed to well mannered dogs. We found Ragnificent Ragdolls, in Vancouver, WA. These are the nicest folks you would ever care to meet. I told Wendy, of Ragnificent Ragdolls,, our story. She was moved, and kept an eye out for a special kitten for my wife. Two years ago, we picked up Abby. We couldn’t be more pleased. Abby is a gorgeous cat, with lots of personality. She is very gentle, but very playful. I think Arlo was still in morning. He didn’t bond to Abby, the way he had with Velcro, so this year, we got Abby a playmate.
Taz is a very sweet cat, but I think he’s going to turn out like Tucker, his dad, and weigh over 30 lbs! Wendy picked out two perfect kittens for us, and has allowed me to take pictures of the awesome cats that live at her house. Please stop by my flickr site to see these lovelies.
I would highly recommend Ragnificent Ragdolls to anyone that can provide a loving home for a very special cat. – Mike Lawson
